Michelle Morton (Vancouver, BC)
"If there is something I love and have fun doing, I'll do it all rather than just titling myself as one thing, I wear many hats"
A true renaissance woman Michelle Morton does it all. Photographer, interviewer, TV Host and more Michelle could never limit herself to one title, I asked her to tell me more about how she got started in the entertainment industry;
"I interned for CTV, began blogging (it was an opportunity to write about things I loved, whether it was fashion or lifestyle), and started writing for other great companies, such as Style Nine to Five. Following my internship and writing opportunities, I began school at BCIT and interned for Shaw, which turned into becoming a fashion stylist for Shaw's television show Dream Homes. Now I'm freelancing and it's been incredible and inspiring each day!"
Recently Michelle has interviewed, Singer/Songwriter Jann Arden, & Whitecaps President Bob Lenarduzzi and I'm excited to see where this year leads Michelle, she says her dream job is currently in the works...I'm going to stay tuned to find out what that is!
A big thank you to Melissa Wong Photography for photographing Michelle on one of the coldest Vancouver Days in November and thanks to Michelle Morton for being my December Style Story Feature!
What is your favorite job?
Journalist. It's an opportunity to bring all my passions together; telling a story and film.
Where do you draw inspiration from for a story?
I draw inspiration from so many things. I find a lot of my ideas and brainstorming come to me while I run the seawall with my iPod blasting or hiking. It's my Michelle time!
What would you love to do that you aren’t currently doing?
I would really love to make a documentary one day!
What would we find you doing in your spare time?
The very little spare time that I have, I want to take advantage of and see all my favourite people- and of course, make pancakes for all of them!
Would you want to travel with your job?
I would love to travel one day for a compelling story or perhaps make a documentary somewhere. However, my home will always be Vancouver.
Why were you drawn to the Sarah Mulder Jewelry that you chose for this feature?
My style is very West Coast and I love how beautiful the pieces are, very versatile and edgy. I can style them up or casually- which is great for my life right now, always running from one place to another! Plus they are beautiful art that screams West Coast for all seasons!
Do you have any brand recommendations, what is your fave?
You know, I used to be all about brands, and of course there are a few that I just love and will splurge a little more on, however, now I just go for what fits the best! I love BCBG, Noul, Zara, Le Chateau, FCUK, H&M, Victoria's Secret and American Apparel to name a few.
