Black Faun (Los Angeles, CA)

"I think beauty is being completely confident in your own skin, and always trying your best to spread positive energy to everyone around you."

Meet California Fashion Blogger Alexandra Ford who writes under Black Faun, which is turning into a site that I love to visit for a visually stunning wardrobe and photography inspiration.

"I started Black Faun a little over a year ago. I had just graduated from an art school and had so much more free time to dedicate to it. A lot of people don't realize how much time and effort goes into a style blog, especially when you edit almost all your own photos.

I've always wanted to be a part of the fashion world, but I never knew exactly what I wanted to do, or how I would do it. The first fashion blogger I remember reading about was Chiara Ferragni, and after reading about her hobbies and lifestyle I knew I wanted to have my own style blog."

I've found it really interesting featuring Alexandra in this month's Style Story, reading her blog posts left me with questions about who she was, her fashion posts are so stunning I wanted to know more about this creative soul.

"One of my favorite quotes is from the Legend of Korra: 'You have light and peace inside of you. If you let it out, you can change the world around you.'   I have found that being an uplifting, positive-minded person towards others has made me so much more confident with myself. "

I highly recommend following Alexandra if you love to swoon over a daily dose of bohemian fashion and photography...case in point this sun-soaked, colourful Style Story!  Big thank you to the man behind the lens of this shoot Jered Scott

Tell us a little more about you...

I'm originally from Kentucky, then I moved to Chicago to attend SAIC (an art school), and now I'm in California! Some of my hobbies, besides style blogging, include painting and jewelry making. I recently dried some flowers and bought some beautiful lace fabric to make a couple of stunning dream catchers!

What peeks your imagination?

Moving to the west coast has been a huge inspiration. My lifestyle has shifted more towards the relaxed, bohemian, free spirit and my closet reflects that. I love nature and the ocean, and I love to incorporate that into my wardrobe and into my art.

Has this always been your style?

I haven't always been so bohemian, but moving to California has had a huge influence.  LA's fashion scene is kind of all over the place. I just choose to wear what I like and what makes me feel confident!

You recently travelled to Tahiti, I’d love to know more about your travels...

Tahiti has always been a place I've wanted to go. It's so beautiful, easily the most beautiful place in the world. In the past I've traveled to Palm Springs, Yosemite, and Cancun, Mexico. The Caribbean is amazing!

Tell us one stand-out memory from your travels...

Snorkeling in Tahiti was amazing. I saw a yellow and purple spotted eel, and it was the coolest thing I've ever seen! So cute. We also swam with sting rays, and I saw some spotted eagle rays which were adorable. I absolutely love marine life, I think it's so incredibly beautiful.

If you have a moment to yourself what will we find you doing?

Most likely editing photos for my blog, or creating jewelry/random decor for my house!

What is your "Happy Place"?

The beach, or swimming in the ocean.

Is there a Summer trend you are lusting over?

Seashell statement jewelry and tropical palm-tree prints. Every Summer I always obsess over the new rompers all my favorite brands come out with. My favorite piece I've bought this season is a tropical-printed Wayf romper!

What are your favorite places to find pieces to add for your wardrobe?

I love shopping at Zara, Urban Outfitters and Brandy Melville whenever I can.  Lately I've been obsessed with Revolveclothing.com and Nastygal.com!

A huge thank you to this team of creatives for Alexandra's August Style Story feature.  These photos, the colours, the imagination and the all-over-feel make me want to travel immediately!  Thank you to Josh Hamilton @hamiltonjoshua for shooting Alexandra in Tahiti and capturing these perfectly dreamy vacation photos to add to this gorgeous story.  Trailer from Tinker Tin Trailers @tinkertintrailerco .
