Bleed for Fashion (Vancouver, BC)
On a crisp, and perfect Fall day in East Vancouver, I met with Lilyanne Nguyen (Lily for short) the Fashion Blogger behind Bleed for Fashion (a Blog which I fell in love with after just one look at all of her gorgeous photos). I was so excited to meet her and and photographer Tessa Tham, to shoot my second installment for Style Stories dedicated to fashionable women styling my jewelry with clothing from their closets. I love that when I asked Lily to tell me about who she is, she described herself as a "certified shit talker", translation? "I say all the shit you’re already thinking, except I do it out loud on my blog, Bleed for Fashion. I’m honest and sometimes bipolar, but I like it that way. This is where I truly let it all hang out." I love people who are honest and upfront, and not affraid to tell people who they are and really speak their minds. I knew I would like Lily instantly!
I have to say that I was blown away with the two outfits that Lily styled for this shoot. Her first outfit was Fall perfection, the colours and layers of her outfit fit perfectly with the location that we shot in, and when she changed into a second look my jaw dropped (make sure to come back and see her second look on January 1st). A big thank you to Tessa Tham for capturing the day so perfectly.
Why were you drawn to the Sarah Mulder Jewelry pieces that you chose for this shoot and how did you decide how to style them?
I don’t usually wear jewelry aside from my mom’s diamond rings, but when I do decide to incorporate other pieces, I prefer jewelry that is simple and classic, and yet can still make a big statement with the beauty of it. When I came across the vine stud earrings and feather necklace, I instantly fell in love and knew I wanted to pair the two together.
Where do you tend to spend the most time shopping? Any local shops that people need to know about that you love shopping in?
I much prefer to shop online, alone, in the quiet, in my pjamas even. That being said, my favourite local stores to shop at are Aritzia, Loft 82, Oak+Fort, and Rebecca Bree. I can never leave without a heavy shopping bag.
